DYNAMIC Coefficient of Friction Tester
NFSI Approved
925 DCOF Tribometer Kit
The ASM 925 DCOF meter follows our philosophy of a developing tribometers or slip meters. It is smaller, lighter and easier to use than other DCOF devices.
We have undergone the Inter laboratory Study thru the National Floor Safety Institute and have passed and are listed as an NFSI approved device for dynamic coefficient of friction testing. The 925 performs testing to the NFSI B101.3 standards as well as the ANSI A326.3 standard as an equivalent device.
The meter ships as a complete kit with everything need to get started including a hard shell roller carrying case. The meter tests to the industry standards for DCOF and is designed to reduce or remove the variables between different operators using the equipment.
As can be seen on the picture of the bottom, we have a single SBR sensor that travels an approximate 2 inch travel. The four corner plunger style switches operate the start and reset of the test foot along with an error code if the meter is lifted slightly or the meter is not held tight to the surface. There will me a message that the meter was up early and the test is cancelled. There are 2 positive stops on each end of the travel slot so the meter can not be pushed down any harder than is required to run the test. There are 4 rubber bump stops to assist in grip on the surface.
Each side is marked with black lines to assist in knowing where the sensor travel area is.
The ASM 925 meter, with the 8.5″ x 6.5″ outer dimensions, will test 4 directions on most stairs.
Operation
Our ASM 925 DCOF meter is very easy to operate. The unit is powered by two 9 volt batteries, a zero calibrate run is made and then once a user selects the number of passes, the unit is pushed down to the surface. The test foot starts moving forward as the unit is pressed down and once the test is complete, the user simply lets up and the test foot returns to the docked position. The test path is approximately 2 inches in length and takes just over a second to run. The DCOF value is displayed and can be saved to a micro SD card in a full size card adapter. When the data is saved, 100 individual data points are saved and displayed with the graph.
The meter is set up for a single pass, 4 pass or 12 pass run. A 4 pass is designed for running a test in each of 4 directions with 90 degree rotations for each pass. The meter will prompt the user to rotate each time. A 12 pass run is designed for 3 passes in each of 4 directions. The meter will prompt the user for each pass. Watch the video and see how easy it is to run a test.
Easy to Use
Simple to follow instructions. Perform test in seconds. Designed for ease of operation and handling.
Easy Data
Micro SD card included for saving and charting runs.
Versatile
With no drive wheels it tests slopes and bathtubs without the problems of running “uphill”.
Compact
Tests stairs in 4 directions.
Accuracy and Data
Accuracy
The meter is very simple to operate and independent from the operator for accurate results.
Accuracy: < 2% gauge R&R
Data
The meter is set up for a single pass, 4 pass or 6 pass run. A 4 pass is designed for running a test in each of 4 directions with 90 degree rotations for each pass. The meter will prompt the user to rotate each time. A 6 pass run is designed for 3 passes in one direction and the 3 passes in a direction perpendicular to the first direction. The meter will prompt the user for each pass.
To the right is an example of the data that is saved to the SD card when chosen to do so. There is a single pass run for example. The 4 pass has the 4 graphs on the first page and the 4 columns of data following as the 6 pass has 6 graphs on the first page.
There is an Excel program (enabling Macros required) included on the SD card for graphing the data.
